Scooter Life, A Day in LA

August 24, 2014

Today my gem of a friend Lisa, who just so happens to be living to blogger dream in LA, decided to explore LA a bit further today…

You can keep up with her here!

She scoots around LA
Ventures to Eggslut on occasion
& is one of the most positive girls I've come across in a while

We started the day off by scooting to Hillsong, a Christian church that originated in Australia and has just recently taken root in LA.
The church holds Sunday Service in the Historic Belasco Theater in DTLA
(This is a picture of the Theater's patio from there website)

I am pretty simple when it comes to worshiping Jesus. I like to feel connected to the people I am worshipping with and enjoy getting quiet and just listening to God speak through his word.
Personally, I don't like feeling so entertained when I am at church.
So for me the lights, cheering, and concert like atmosphere was a bit overwhelming.
However, everyone is designed differently, and for the people of Hillsong, this church is there home, which is beautiful in itself.

All in all I was grateful to be there, and dance around like a fool for God,
because
Love Always Wins,

has there ever been a greater reason to dance?

Another highlight of the day was scooting around LA
No picture, keyboard, screen, or iphone can ever compare to the feeling of being outside, in a crowded city, full of adventure, with wind flying through your hair!
Ugh I just absolutely love the Scooter Life!

If you have never been to Grand Central Market in Downtown LA, well you're missing out. It is such a gem. It reminded me of Europe the way the markets are set up. We sipped on iced coffee from the one and only Augie's Coffee. Augie's is located in Redlands, CA where my family lives. So every I visit home I make it a point to get a tasty brew from this local gem. Supporting local business is easy when the business itself is so full of passion, creativity, and ya specially selected craft brewed coffees.
I was pretty stoked when I saw this sign that I started telling people to try the coffee since we were all waiting in a wrap around line for Eggslut. Yep Eggslut. The foodie heaven for all things eggs. I was an Eggslut today and I am proud of it. Ha!

I ordered the Fairfax. I am definitely going back to try the Slut...

A few pictures I snapped while we strolled through the Historic Bank District.

And this gem from itsalisa's Instagram. Helmets are the latest in Summer Fashion Trends…you guys didn't know?

My blouse was a gift from my most recent internship at Shout Pr. Such a good summer internship. Miss those girls!

Blouse- White Crow
Halter Top- Brandy Melville
Pants- 12$ from F21
Shoes- I bought them when I visited Italia ! Made in Italy. Bought in Italy.

And now my feet are up and my glitter garlands sparkling while I'm listening to Local Natives, eating banana chips and blogging away.

Maya

Broken hearts have been weighing heavily on mine lately.
"People are broken, they get mad at you for being whole."
To me these words have never rang more true.
At 25, I feel like now more than ever I am truly confident in myself.
I know that I have a special heart, talents, and gifts God has given me to bring him glory.
It is so easy to blame yourself for others actions.
We tend to get down on ourselves when another mistreats us.
Being a woman I feel an innate sensitivity when it comes to others.
I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and see the good in them.
Although the older I get the more I see how people hurt others because they are hurt.
Happy people lift others up and effortlessly spread joy.
It is so easy to be another unhappy person, taking out frustrations on others.
We all have wounds, shame, guilt, and deep sadnesses inside us.
We all have stories.

But from these depths come a powerful love.
Don't ever let the actions or words of a broken person damage your heart or make you carry those wounds to another.

Instead, be the radiant one who chooses love…because love never fails.
People who love when it is difficult and follow their hearts are my heroes.
Here's to a life that reflects love and brings joy, hope, and peace to others.

Trail blazing.

Can't leave without my headdress…

Since I can remember I have loved expressing my moods through clothing.
I love how you can put together an outfit that really makes you feel.
Don't ever doubt a woman clothed in confidence (;
As I get older, and because I have a Bachelors of Arts in Fashion Merchandising I feel even more empowered to dress any way I please. I was the little girl in dainty dresses, fur hand cuffs, and lace. Now I am a 25 year old lady dressed head to toe in whatever I'm feeling.
Things that are different intimidate others, it is a fact of life.
I have come to the conclusion that being confident within yourself and staying bright despite what any one else thinks is something everyone should experience.

Fashion is fun, powerful, and a non verbal language.

What are you communicating?

Here are a few photo shoots from a styling portfolio I was assigned to do.
Each photo represents an element and/or principle of design.

Magic.

I have really amazing friends who just so happen to be creative and wildly talented.
